Ibiza has no shortage of beautiful beaches. But when you’ve got children in tow, the definition of the perfect beach changes slightly.
Crystal-clear water is still important, obviously. But so are shallow swimming, somewhere to find lunch, easy access and enough entertainment to prevent the dreaded “I’m bored” arriving 17 minutes after you’ve unpacked everything.
So, buckets and spades at the ready. Here are 12 of our favourite family beaches in Ibiza.
1. Cala Llonga
Best all-round family beach
If we had to choose just one Ibiza beach specifically for families, Cala Llonga would be very difficult to beat.
The huge sandy beach sits inside a sheltered bay, with shallow water extending quite a way from shore. There’s plenty of room for children to play, and, crucially, there’s even a playground directly by the beach.
Restaurants, cafés and shops are all close by, while ferries connect Cala Llonga with other parts of the island.
Best for: Families of all ages

2. Cala Bassa
Best for ridiculously blue water
Cala Bassa ticks an impressive number of family-beach boxes.
Beautiful sand, wonderfully clear water and a gently shelving cove give younger children plenty of space to splash around. Older kids can explore the rocky areas and snorkel.
Best for: A classic Ibiza beach day

3. Cala Vadella
Best for younger children
The first glimpse of Cala Vadella as you drive down the hill is pretty special.
Surrounded by pine-covered hills, the wide sandy beach sits at the end of a deeply sheltered bay. The sand slopes gently into shallow water, making it particularly good for younger children.
There are restaurants and cafés immediately around the beach, so you can happily settle in for the whole day.
Best for: Toddlers and younger kids

4. Las Salinas
Best for crystal-clear, shallow water
Las Salinas might be famous for beach clubs, beautiful people and long lazy lunches, but it’s also a surprisingly brilliant beach for families.
The water here is often exceptionally clear and stays shallow for a long way out, making it a great choice for little ones who want to paddle and play.
The long stretch of soft sand gives you plenty of room to set up for the day, while older children can grab their snorkels and explore the rocky areas at either end.
Another big plus for families is the parking close to the beach — particularly useful when you’re carrying children, inflatables and half the contents of your villa.

Sithappy tip: Walk a little farther along the beach after you arrive, and you’ll often find more space away from the busiest entrances.
5. Portinatx
Best for snorkelling and exploring
Why have one beach when you can have several?
Portinatx, right at the northern end of Ibiza, has lovely sandy beaches with generally calm water.
There’s excellent snorkelling around the rocks, plus paddleboards, kayaks and other activities available during the summer.
Best for: Families with children of different ages

6. Cala Gració
Best small family cove
Just outside San Antonio you’ll find lovely little Cala Gració.
Its sheltered location, sandy beach and clear water make it particularly appealing to families who prefer a smaller cove.
There’s another bonus too: Aquarium Cap Blanc is nearby, so you can combine the beach with a visit to Ibiza’s wonderfully quirky aquarium inside a natural sea cave.
Best for: Younger children

7. Es Canar
Best for entertainment
Es Canar makes family beach days very easy.
The sandy beach has shallow water and restaurants and facilities immediately behind it.
There are water activities and boat trips during the summer, and younger visitors have even more to keep them entertained nearby.
If you’re there on Wednesday, you can also combine your beach day with a trip to the famous hippy market.
Best for: Kids who need more than just sand

8. Cala Llenya
Best for a more relaxed family day
If you want something a little less resort-like, try Cala Llenya on Ibiza’s east coast.
It’s a broad beach surrounded by pine forest, with fine sand and clear water.
There’s plenty of room to play, and the overall atmosphere is wonderfully laid-back.

9. Talamanca
Best for convenience
Sometimes you don’t want an expedition just to reach the beach.
Talamanca is minutes from Ibiza Town, and its long stretch of sand and shallow water makes it an easy choice with children.
A wooden promenade runs behind the beach with plenty of places to stop for drinks or lunch.
Best for: Families staying around Ibiza Town

10. Santa Eulalia Beach
Best stress-free option
Another beach that makes life very easy for parents.
Santa Eulalia’s main beach is right beside the town, meaning restaurants, cafés, shops and the promenade are all immediately accessible.
There’s no need to load the car with supplies for an Arctic expedition just to spend three hours beside the sea.
Best for: Babies, toddlers and grandparents

11. Port des Torrent
Best for a beach day that rolls into the evening
Port des Torrent is one of those beaches that just works brilliantly with children.
The sandy bay is sheltered, with shallow water that makes it particularly good for younger kids.
But one of our favourite things about Port des Torrent is what happens towards the end of the day.
Rather than packing everything up as the sun starts to drop, stick around. There’s a great family atmosphere as the heat disappears, children carry on playing on the sand and in the water, and parents can relax as the evening begins.
It’s less about rushing off for sunset and more about letting the beach day naturally turn into an Ibiza summer evening.

Sithappy tip: Go later in the afternoon and stay as the sun goes down. It’s when Port des Torrent really comes into its own.
12. Cala Nova
Best for a beautiful east-coast beach day
Cala Nova is a gorgeous stretch of sand on Ibiza’s east coast, with beautiful water, plenty of space and some great places to eat nearby.
It has a slightly wilder feel than some of Ibiza’s more sheltered family coves, which is part of its charm.
The sea can also be livelier here, so with younger children it’s important to keep an eye on the conditions on the day.
Best for: Families with slightly older children
